From the kiln to the sea, all of Bizen in one tour

This tour is perfect for travelers who are ready to see Bizen's culture close up. Bizen is home to one of the world's first public school for commoners. The area is famous for its Bizen ware, which has been designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property.

If you fancy a trip out on the shimmering blue Seto Inland Sea, we'll take you to explore the fishing heritage, a heritage that encompasses generations of families, of the Hinase area in Bizen. Take in the beautiful sights and feel the sea breeze on your face.

Every experience on this tour is designed to bring you closer to the people, crafts, and history that make Bizen.

Activities in this tour include:

Hinase Islands Boat Tour: Private boat rides with local captains. You’ll hear the hidden stories of the Genroku Breakwater while taking in the views of the Seto Inland Sea.

Oyster Culture in Hinase: Get to know the traditions behind the pride of our region. Depending on the season, we can visit the local fishermen to learn about their work and the oysters that made Hinase the 2024 Grand Prix winner.

Hands-On Bizen Ware Workshop: Make your own Bizen-yaki in a local studio. Your piece will be traditionally fired in the large wood-burning kiln and shipped to you later.

Local Landmarks and Heritage Sites: Visit the Bizen City Museum of Art, the historic Shizutani School, and local shrines that are central to our community’s history.
